Paid Parental Leave Scheme Has Changed

Stay updated with the latest changes in paid parental leave scheme to support your employees and their families. Effective from 1 July 2023, there are significant adjustments that you need to be aware of:

  1. Partnered couples can now claim up to 20 weeks' paid parental leave together. Single parents can access the full 20 weeks themselves.

  2. The former Dad and Partner Pay has been merged with the existing 18 weeks Parental Leave Pay.

  3. Eligibility rules have been expanded, allowing fathers or partners to claim paid parental leave pay. The requirement to return to work in order to be eligible for the entitlement has also been removed.

  4. A family income limit of $350,000 (indexed annually from 1 July  2024) has been introduced for claiming paid parental leave pay.

  5. Eligible employees can now claim the payment in multiple blocks until the child turns 2, making it easier to balance work and family responsibilities.

Engage AdvisoryHR to provide comprehensive HR support and to help keep your business up to date with these changes, while ensuring your employees are aware of this change in entitlement.
